So Brian has been toying with the idea of proper transportation - a jeep Cherokee or a scooter?
The Jeep provides lots of room for family and guests and easy hauling for mountain bikes. The taxes, insurance, and upkeep are a little more money and we are wondering if it makes sense to get another “car”.
The scooter allows you to get around quickly and easily. One can weave between the lines of traffic and swiftly arrive home. The drawbacks with a scooter are… the rain, not a lot of space for the family, and safety. Brian has never ridden a motorcycle before and that was the biggest concern for me.
So we have options and options are good. Last night the Melawati staff celebrated the Christmas party at a Robbin’s beautiful home. We arrived a bit later than everyone else, and there was so much food and lots of people. We had one glass of wine, some turkey, and visited with friends. Another friend, David, showed up on his motor scooter and Brian moseyed up to him to check out his ride. He asked if he could try it out. I watched knowingly as David explained the dynamics of shifting down for first gear and up with your toe for the other gears. Brian strapped on the helmet and mounted the bad motor scooter. My friend, Mark, said, “watch he is going to crash.” My quick reply was “don’t say that.” Then our eyes tracked over to Brian as he slid it in to first gear. He nearly missed hitting a large stone tortoise and I thought, 'he should stop'. He didn’t. I realized at that very moment that he is going to crash and he is heading this way toward all of the people and the buffet table.
I was frozen. I couldn’t assist him in any way lest I hurt myself.
